Signs My Child Has a Dental Problem

From teething to an underlying cavity to a piece of food stuck between a tooth or cracked tooth, there are several causes of child tooth pain. Childhood tooth pain can affect your baby’s sleeping and eating habits, both of which are essential for their growth. To help you detect a dental problem early on, we have compiled a list of four common signs of child tooth pain. Here you go:

  1. Waking Frequently

Does your child have trouble sleeping or seem tired throughout the day? If yes, a toothache might be to blame. From making your child irritable to sleepwalking at night, a tooth infection can make it difficult for your child to sit in one place comfortably or sleep sideways.

  1. Eating Less

If your child is suffering from a dental problem, the most prominent sign will be that you will notice them shying away or crying when offered their favorite foods or drinks. This is usually because a damaged tooth can be sensitive to cold and hot foods. Take a look inside your little one’s mouth for discoloration of their teeth or gums, and contact your dentist as soon as possible.

  1. Constant Chewing

Teething can be a long and painful process for most children. So, if your child has started to get cranky and cannot stop chewing anything they have in sight or drooling, new teeth might be coming in. In this case, it is best to keep your baby distracted and use natural remedies to relieve the toothache.

  1. Bad Breath

Bad breath is one of the most prominent signs of a dental problem such as gum disease. Chronic bad breath might also indicate that your child is suffering from a throat infection or a severe oral health issue like a dental abscess or sinusitis.
