Holiday Gifts for Healthier Teeth

Little child with Santa hat

Even though your kids have likely already made their holiday wish lists known for weeks, the gift of good oral health probably isn’t on that list! As a parent, you know that, while it’s great for kids to get gifts they want, it’s essential for them to get the gifts they need as well!

Holiday Gifts for Healthy Teeth

Below are a few holiday gift ideas that will help improve your child’s dental health:

  • Electric toothbrush – Electric toothbrushes are great for people of all ages, but especially for kids. Electric toothbrushes are fun and can help make sure your child is brushing thoroughly. You can also purchase electric toothbrushes featuring your child’s favorite superhero, Disney princess, or television show characters.
  • Mouth guard – Mouth guards are used during sports or other physical activities, and work by cushioning blows to the face and preventing lacerations to the lips and cheeks as well as broken or knocked-out teeth. In fact, the CDC has estimated that around 3 million teeth a year are knocked out at youth sporting events. A mouth guard can make a great stocking stuffer for the sporty child in your house!
  • Travel kits – If your family is traveling for the holidays, you may want to consider putting together a dental kit for each member of your family. This kit should include a travel sized toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and even small bottles of mouthwash. Pack your dental kit on top of your clothes and make sure to set aside enough time during your trip to properly care for your dental health.
  • Dental health books – Lastly, there’s no shortage of educational dental health books for kids! These will help your children overcome their fear of the dentist by knowing what to expect beforehand. These books can make for fun stocking stuffers and can be read together as a family!

Winter break is a great time to visit our office for a dental cleaning and a checkup. This will allow your kids to maintain their dental health without interfering with their school schedule. To make an appointment, please contact Little Smiles of Delaware, here at our Delaware, Ohio child’s dental office.
