Healthier Bedtime Snack Choices

Bananas, strawberries and kiwis

Kids and adults both are guilty of late-night cravings and bedtime snacks! While late-night snacks aren’t great for our teeth, there are a few options that are better than others. Instead of going immediately to a sugar snack that will damage your teeth, choose a healthier option like the ones listed below.

Healthy Bedtime Snacks

Making a regular habit of late-night eating isn’t a great idea. But exceptions can be made every once in a while, especially if you’re snacking on healthy choices.

Some of the best bedtime snacks to offer your kids include the following:

  • Whole-grain crackers
  • Sliced bananas
  • Oatmeal with fruit
  • Almonds
  • Cottage cheese
  • Low-sugar cereal and milk

These snacks are not as detrimental to your child’s health as sugar and some of them may actually help you fall asleep more easily. The best thing you can do for your child’s oral health is to make sure he or she is practicing good oral hygiene. This means brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and kids here to Little Smiles of Delaware every six months for a dental cleaning and exam.
