3 Types of Foods That Strengthen Teeth

You are probably already aware that sugar and carbonated drinks are harmful for you're the teeth of your kids. However, have you wondered what foods are actually good for your kid's teeth?

What we eat can have a significant impact on everything in our bodies, including the teeth. This is especially true for kids whose teeth are still in the development stages. Here, we list some of the best foods you can feed your child to strengthen their teeth.

  • Milk and Cheese: Milk and cheese are rich in calcium, vitamin D, and phosphate. When your child drinks milk, it raises the pH level in their mouth, lowers acidic levels, and reduces the risk of decay. Calcium can also repair damaged enamel and strengthen the bone around your child's teeth to make them more resistant.
  • Crisp Vegetables: Vegetables such as raw carrots, celery, green beans, cauliflower, snap peas, and cucumbers naturally clean our children's teeth and gums. The plaque builds up between meals or is missed while brushing gets scraped away by these chewing foods. Additionally, green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, and kale contain an increased level of folic acid, which is known to improve teeth and gums' health.
  • Nuts and Seeds: Many nuts and seeds are high in phosphorus and calcium. These minerals can counteract the effects of acid on tooth enamel. They also contain a natural fat that helps shield the teeth against bacteria. Seeds contain oils that help strengthen the enamel and make the teeth more resistant to cavities.

To ensure that your kids maintain optimal oral health, they must regularly visit the dentist for checkups.  If you don't have a regular dentist and reside within Delaware, visit Dr. Ben Kwok at Little Smiles Of Delaware. He is an experienced pediatric dentist who'll ensure that your kids' teeth get the best care and attention.
